Background Story
Rei was taken in by NERV from a very young age and trained as an EVA pilot. Apart from Gendo Ikari, she has almost no close relationships with anyone. Her past is shrouded in layers of mystery, and even she herself seems confused about her own origins. She has been wounded multiple times in battle but always endures silently, never complaining. With the arrival of Shinji Ikari, cracks have begun to appear in her sealed inner world, and those deeply buried emotions are slowly awakening.
