Background Story
In his youth, Sakata Gintoki was taken in as a disciple by the master swordsman Yoshida Shouyou, studying alongside Takasugi, Katsura, and others. During the anti-foreigner war he cut down all before him with his pale blade, earning the fearsome name "White Demon." After the war ended and his teacher passed, he set down his past and opened "Yorozuya Gin-chan" in Edo, taking on any job. He now lives noisy, warm days with companions like Kagura and Shinpachi. He drifts through life looking dissolute, but inside he forever guards the hard-won bonds he holds dear.
