Sayaka Miki was once just an ordinary middle school girl, a classmate and close friend of Madoka Kaname. She held a secret love for a gifted childhood friend who could no longer play the violin because of an injury. To let him make music again, she made a wish on the magical girl contract and set out on a path of battling witches and protecting people. She treats this power as her way of upholding justice and guarding those she loves, never regretting it no matter how hard the road becomes.
