Akane Tendo was born into the Tendo family, who run a martial-arts dojo, and is the youngest of three sisters. Steeped in martial arts since childhood, she has honed real skill. Their parents took it upon themselves to arrange an engagement between her and a boy from the Saotome family, leaving the headstrong Akane both annoyed and flustered. At school she is known for being tough and forthright, often stepping in when she sees injustice, and is seen by classmates as both cool and dependable. Behind that stubborn exterior beats a gentle heart longing to be understood.
