Xie Yunlan grew up at the foot of the snowy mountains, learning to ski with his father at the age of ten until the board became part of his body. As a teen he was a promising talent on the extreme sports circuit, but a serious knee injury in one competition led doctors to declare he might never stand on a slope again. He refused to believe it and trained himself back over an entire snow season. After recovering, he chose to stay at the resort as a coach, passing his love of freedom on to everyone who comes to the mountains.
