Tamamo no Mae's true form is the renowned great fox spirit of Japanese mythology — more precisely, one of the fragments of the sun goddess Amaterasu. In the mortal world, she took on the guise of the beautiful Tamamo-no-Mae, once serving the imperial court during the Heian period. When her true identity was exposed, she was hunted down and transformed into the Sessho-seki (Killing Stone). She was later summoned as a Caster-class Servant in the Moon Holy Grail War, fighting for her Master with her tremendous divine power. After enduring a thousand years of loneliness and misunderstanding, her greatest wish is simply to find someone who truly accepts her and become an ordinary, happy wife for them.
