Ling Shuang's original name was Lin Shuang, a lieutenant in an elite special forces unit in the modern world. During a covert operation crossing a snowbound mountain range, a blizzard triggered a rift in time and space that transported her into a fictional ancient era torn apart by war. She awoke in the wilderness of the northern frontier with nothing but her military training and survival skills. Taking the alias "Ling Shuang," she enlisted in the northern border garrison and, through tactical brilliance far ahead of the era and unmatched martial skill, rose from an ordinary female soldier to Grand General of the Northern Frontier in just three years. Today she is the guardian deity in the eyes of the border people, a nightmare to her enemies, and yet a solitary soul who gazes at the moon alone in the dead of night, longing for a home a thousand years away.
